At Green Office Okanagan we have tried to make running an office organic waste program as easy as possible. We provide either a stainless steel or heavy plastic container with a good lid that controls the smell. We empty the container once a week and replace the liner so the container stays clean and presentable. 

Staff are always excited about having an alternative to throwing their left-over lunches or office coffee grounds in to the garbage. The organic waste is very valuable to gardeners and farmers and using our program is something you can feel good about. We have also kept the cost very affordable so that is not a hurdle either.

With the popularity of the Kcup and single cup coffee system we have launched a Kcup recycling service. You no longer have to toss those old kcups in the garbage. I started "Green Office Okanagan" because I wanted to give offices the ability to compost their organic waste in a simple and effective way.  The staff are given the opportunity to dramatically reduce the amount of garbage the office produces and all those left over sandwiches, banana peels and coffee grounds are turned in to something truly beneficial.  

I think most people want to do the right thing for the environment but let's be honest, sometimes there is a struggle between doing what's right and doing what's convenient.  Green Office Okanagan allows you to have both.  All you do is put your organic waste in our bin and forget about it.  The waste is picked up, the bin cleaned, and all that material is properly composted.  When the composting process is finished the final product is given to local farmers and gardeners to enjoy.

Every household and office in Kelowna should be composting.  It not only dramatically reduces the amount of waste going in to our landfill, it also cuts down on methane gas production.  In addition, the compost material is exactly what our soil needs to grow incredible fruits and vegetables and create amazing plants and flowers.
